Abstract

The article considers knowledge assessment measures in the course of economics. The author describes four levels of economics understanding. The article introduces the advantages and disadvantages of different test formats. The author concludes that multiple-choice questions can be used to measure some but not all levels of economics understanding. The essay questions have a potential to assess the higher levels of economics understanding. The article also gives examples of multiple-choice and essay questions.
